The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 1:35 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Nancy Ruth, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Baker, Brazeau, Hubley, Jaffer, Kochhar, Nancy Ruth, and Zimmer (9).
In attendance: Allison Goody, Julia Nicol and Julian Walker, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, the committee continued its examination of the role that the Government of Canada may play in supporting the promotion and protection of women's rights in Afghanistan after Canada has ended its combat operations in 2011. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue no. 5.)
