The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day, at 4:20 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Joan Fraser, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Baker, P.C., Carignan, Chaput, Fraser, Joyal, P.C., Lang, MacDonald, Runciman, Wallace and Watt (11).
In attendance: Laura Barnett and Tanya Dupuis, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, the committee began its study on the provisions and operation of the Act to amend the Criminal Code (production of records in sexual offence proceedings), S.C. 1997, c. 30.

Catherine Kane, Director General and Senior General Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section;
Susan McDonald, Principal Researcher, Research and Statistics Division.
Public Prosecution Service of Canada:
Susanne Boucher, Senior Counsel, Nunavut Regional Office;
Bonnie Tulloch, Special Advisor on Northern Issues, Headquarters Counsel.
The chair made an opening statement.
Ms. Kane and Ms. McDonald each made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:46 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee resumed.
Ms Boucher made a statement and, together with Ms. Tulloch, answered questions.
At 6:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
