The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:31 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Dawson, Fox, P.C., Housakos, Johnson, MacDonald, Mercer, Meredith, Plett and Zimmer (10).
In attendance: Dean Ruffilli, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, the committee continued its study on emerging issues related to the Canadian airline industry. (For complete text of order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)
WITNESSES:
Regional Community Airports Coalition of Canada:
Alvin Maier, Chief Executive Officer;
Todd Tripp, Vice-Chair.
The deputy chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Maier made a presentation and, together with Mr. Tripp, answered questions.
At 9:41 a.m., Senator Dawson took the chair.
At 10:42 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dawson, Fox, P.C., Housakos, Johnson, MacDonald, Marshall Mercer, Meredith, Moore and Nancy Ruth (10).
In attendance: Dean Ruffilli, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, the committee began its study on Bill C-42, An Act to amend the Aeronautics Act.

Mr. Toews made a presentation and, together with Mr. Gregory, Mr. Flack and Mr. Shuttle, answered questions.
At 10:02 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:04 a.m., the committee resumed.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-42, An Act to amend the Aeronautics Act.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 2 carry.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, carry.
It was agreed that the title carry.
It was agreed that the bill carry.
It was agreed, that the chair report the bill to the Senate without amendments.
At 10:05 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
