The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 10:30 a.m., this day, in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, De Bané, P.C., Downe, Finley, Fortin- Duplessis, Mahovlich, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), and Wallin (9).
In attendance: Dean Ruffilli, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, the committee continued its examination of the political and economic developments in Brazil and the implications for Canadian Policy and interests in the region, and other related matters. Mr. Laurin, Mr. Ray and Mr. Rakievich made statements and answered questions.
At 11:30 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:34 a.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Burr made a statement and, with Mr. Rioux, answered questions.
At 12:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
