The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:22 p.m., in room 160- S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, De Bané, P.C., Downe, Fortin- Duplessis, Johnson, Lang, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), Wallace and Wells (10).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Brian Hermon, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, the committee continued its study on economic and political developments in the Republic of Turkey, their regional and global influences, the implications for Canadian interests and opportunities, and other related matters. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 17.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.
At 5:19 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:26 p.m., the committee resumed in public.

Murat Özdemir, Country Advisor in Canada.
The chair made an opening statement.
Ms. Tol and Mr. Özdemir made statements and answered questions.
At 6:29 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
