The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day in camera at 10:34 a.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Dawson, De Bané, P.C., Demers, Downe, Fortin-Duplessis, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C., (Cobourg) and Wallace (10).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Johnson (1).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Brian Hermon, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, the committee continued its study on economic and political developments in the Republic of Turkey, their regional and global influences, the implications for Canadian interests and opportunities, and other related matters. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 17.)
It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded to consider a draft report.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted, and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to make necessary editorial revisions and approve the final text before tabling in the Senate.
At 11:55 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
