The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera this day at 5:40 p.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fairbairn, P.C., Mahovlich, Mercer, Mockler, Ogilvie, Plett, Rivard and Robichaud, P.C. (8).
In attendance: Mathieu Frigon and Aïcha Coulibaly, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament and Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, the committee began its examination of the current state and future of Canada's forest sector.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee considered a draft report.
After debate, it was agreed that the draft report entitled The Canadian Forest Sector: A Future based on Innovation be adopted as amended and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to approve the final version of the report taking into account the changes discussed today.
At 6 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 16, 2011, the committee began its examination of the research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector.
The committee, pursuant to rule 92(2) (e), considered a draft agenda
At 6:20 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
