The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 8:05 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Callbeck, Eaton, Maltais, Mercer, Merchant, Mockler, Rivard and Robichaud, P.C. (9).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Oh (1).
In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 16, 2011, the committee continued its consideration of research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

Dr. James Dosman, Distinguished Research Chair.
Mr. Zylmans made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 9:13 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:17 a.m., the committee resumed.
Dr. Dosman made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 10:03 a.m., the committee considered a supplementary budget for its study on research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector.
After debate, the Honourable Senator Robichaud, P.C., moved:
That the following supplementary budget application (Research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector), for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
GENERAL EXPENSES $ 0 ACTIVITY 1: St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador 46,486 TOTAL $ 46,486
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 10:11 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
