The Special Senate Committee on Anti-terrorism met this day at 1:15 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Hugh Segal, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Dagenais, Dallaire, Segal, Smith, P.C. (Cobourg) and Tkachuk (6).
In attendance: Lyne Casavant, Holly Porteous and Dominique Valiquet, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 17, 2012, the committee began its examination of Bill S-9, An Act to amend the Criminal Code.
APPEARING:
The Honourable Robert Nicholson, P.C., M.P., Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.
WITNESSES:

Catherine Kane, Director General and Senior General Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section;
Greg Koster, Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section.
The minister made a statement and, together with Ms. Kane and Mr. Koster, answered questions.
At 2:24 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
