The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Greene, Maltais, Massicotte, Mockler, Moore, Ringuette, St. Germain, P.C., and Smith (Saurel) (8).
In attendance: John Bulmer and Adriane Yong, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absences of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Greene moved:
That the Honourable Senator Smith be the acting chair of the committee.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The acting chair took the chair.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the committee continued its review of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (S.C. 2000, c. 17), pursuant to section 72 of the said Act. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 9.)

The acting chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Ritter made a statement, and, together with Ms. Richard and Mr. Barcados, answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:23 p.m., the committee resumed.
The acting chair made a statement.
Mr. Hensel, Ms. Alexander and Ms. Archibald made a statement and, together, answered questions.
It was agreed that the Honourable Senator Smith serve as acting chair at the next meeting of the committee.
At 6:08 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
