The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the Honourable Senator Irving Gerstein, Chair, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Gerstein, Greene, Harb, Maltais, Massicotte, Moore, Oliver, Ringuette, Smith (Saurel), Stewart Olsen and Tkachuk (12).

In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the committee continued its review of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (S.C. 2000, c. 17), pursuant to section 72 of the said Act. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue no. 9.)

WITNESS:

Chris Chandler, President.

The chair made an opening statement.

Mr. Chandler made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:21 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda.

It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room and that blackberries and cellular phones not be used.

At 5:49 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

The Honourable Senator Harb moved:

That the draft seventh report on the unauthorized disclosure of confidential committee documents be adopted and that the chair table this report in the chamber.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 5:52 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
