The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met in camera this day at 4:20 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Irving Gerstein, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Comeau, Gerstein, Greene, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Maltais, Moore, Nancy Ruth, Ringuette and Tkachuk (10).

In attendance: Adriane Yong, Brett Stuckey and June Dewetering, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

The chair advised members that the third member of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure would be the Honourable Senator Black.

The Honourable Senator Ringuette moved that the committee adopt the following draft legislative budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014:

GENERAL EXPENSES   $ 7,300
TOTAL   $ 7,300

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 4:25 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the committee continued its review of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (S.C. 2000, c. 17), pursuant to section 72 of the said Act. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 9.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room and that blackberries and cellular phones not be used.

At 6:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
