The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day, at 5:07 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable W. David Angus, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Brown, Dickson, Johnson, Massicotte, Mitchell, Neufeld, Peterson, Seidman and Wallace (11).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Lang and Raine (2).
In attendance: Marc LeBlanc and Sam Banks, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 16, 2011, the committee continued its examination of the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy).
APPEARING:
The Honourable Joe Oliver, P.C., M.P., Minister of Natural Resources.
WITNESS:
Natural Resources Canada:
Serge Dupont, Deputy Minister.
The chair made an opening statement.
Minister Oliver made a statement and answered questions.
At 6:28 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:33 p.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 6:43 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
