The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met in camera this day at 10:05 a.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Day, Dickson, Eggleton, P.C., Finley, Gerstein, Marshall, Nancy Ruth, Neufeld, Peterson, Ringuette and Runciman (12).

In attendance: John Bulmer and Sylvain Fleury, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Adam Thompson, Committee Clerk.

Pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.

It was moved that the committee pursue the study on price disparities in respect of certain goods between Canada and the United States, which was referred by the Minister of Finance.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted, on division.

It was agreed that the chair be empowered to seek an order of reference from the Senate authorizing the committee to examine and report on the price disparity study.

At 10:50 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
