The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:20 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Harb, Hubley, MacDonald, Manning, McInnis, Oliver, Poirier, Raine, Unger and Watt (10).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 8, 2012, the committee continued to examine issues relating to the lobster fishery in Atlantic Canada and Quebec. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 6.)
WITNESSES:
Fisheries and Oceans Canada:
Nadia Bouffard, Director General, Fisheries and Aboriginal Policy, Program Policy Sector;
Adam Burns, Director, Resource Management — Atlantic, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management Sector.
Mr. Burns made a statement and, together with Ms. Bouffard, answered questions.
At 6:40 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:45 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
