The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 8:32 a.m. in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Mobina S. B. Jaffer, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Hubley, Jaffer, Meredith, White and Zimmer (6).
In attendance: Lyne Casavant, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, the committee continued its examination of cyberbullying in Canada with regard to Canada's international human rights obligations under Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 6.)
The Honourable Senator Ataullahjan moved that the following budget application for the special study on issues relating to cyberbullying in Canada in the amount of $ 20,000 be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
Summary of Expenditures:
Professional and Other Services $ 18,000 Transportation and Communications $ 0 All Other Expenditures $ 2,000 TOTAL $ 20,000
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
