The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day, at 2 p.m.. in the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre of Winnipeg, the deputy chair, the Honourable Patrick Brazeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Brazeau, Harb, and Jaffer (3).
In attendance: Julian Walker and Martha Butler, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 15, 2012, the committee continued its examination pertaining to the human rights of First Nations band members who reside off-reserve, with an emphasis on the current federal policy framework.
