The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day, in camera, at 12:08 p.m., in room 172-E, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable David P. Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Braley, Comeau, Enverga, Fraser, Furey, Joyal, P.C., Martin, Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), and Wells (10).
In attendance: Mark Audcent, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel, Senate of Canada; and Sebastian Spano, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, the committee began its study of a case of privilege relating to the reported interference with Canadians who wished to appear before the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room.
In accordance with rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda.
At 12:58 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
