The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cordy, Demers, Eggleton, P.C., Martin, Merchant, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Verner, P.C. (10).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 17, 2011, the committee continued its study on prescription pharmaceuticals in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 12.)

Dr. Mukul Sharma, Chairman of the Board.

Institutional Review Board Services:

Jack Corman, President.

Reformulary Group:

Helen Stevenson, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Corman, Ms. Stevenson and Dr. Sharma each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
