The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:13 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cordy, Dyck, Eggleton, P.C., Martin, Ogilvie, Rivard, Seidman, Seth, Verner, P.C., and Wallace (11).

In attendance: Sandra Elgersma, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 3, 2012, the committee continued its study on the subject-matter of those elements contained in Division 54 of Part 4 of Bill C-38, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 17.)

Debbie Douglas, Executive Director.

As individuals:

The chair made a statement.

Mr. Collacott, Ms. Douglas, Mr. Bellissimo and Mr. Kurland each made a statement and, together, answered questions.

At 6:06 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
