The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:05 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Roméo Antonius Dallaire, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Nolin, Plett and Wallin (5).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Manning (1).
In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. WITNESSES:
Veterans Affairs Canada:
Keith Hillier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery;
Anne-Marie Pellerin, Director, Rehabilitation and Case Management.
National Defence:
Rear-Admiral Andrew Smith, Chief Military Personnel;
Colonel Gérard Blais, Director Casualty Support Management.
Mr. Hillier and Rear-Admiral Smith each made a statement and, together, all the witnesses answered questions.
At 1:20 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
