The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:08 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Roméo Antonius Dallaire, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire, Day, Nolin, Plett and Wallin (5).
In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. WITNESSES:
National Defence:
Colonel Gérard Blais, Director of Casualty Support Management;
Colonel Jean-Robert Bernier, Deputy Surgeon General.
Veterans Affairs Canada:
Raymond Lalonde, Director Operational Stress Injury National Network.
Colonel Blais, Colonel Bernier and Mr. Lalonde each made a statement, and, together, the witnesses answered questions.
At 1:16 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
