The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:07 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Roméo Antonius Dallaire, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Dallaire, Day, Plett and Wallin (5).

In attendance: Martin Auger, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, and delegated on Monday October 3, 2011 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. WITNESSES:

National Defence:

Catherine A. Campbell, Assistant to the Chief Scientist, Military Personnel Research and Analysis;

Kerry Sudom, PhD, Military Personnel Research and Analysis;

Colonel Jean-Robert Bernier, Deputy Surgeon General.

Veterans Affairs Canada:

David Pedlar, PhD, Director, Research;

Anne-Marie Pellerin, Director, Rehabilitation and Case Management.

Dr. Pedlar and Ms. Campbell each made a statement, and, together, all the witnesses answered questions.

At 1:16 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
