The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day, at 4:15 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Dawson, Demers, Downe, Fortin-Duplessis, Housakos, Johnson, Oh, Robichaud, P.C., Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), and Verner, P.C. (12).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Brian Hermon, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee continued its study on security conditions and economic developments in the Asia-Pacific region, the implications for Canadian policy and interests in the region, and other related matters. The chair made an opening statement.
Messrs. Boutilier and Chalk each made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:25 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:26 p.m., the committee resumed.
Messrs. Peirce and Rumig each made a statement and, together with Ms. Soper, answered questions.
At 6:22 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
