The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met in camera this day at 5 p.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Dagenais, Eaton, Maltais, Mercer, Merchant, Mockler, Ogilvie, Oh, Rivard and Tardif (11).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda.

At 5:21 p.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee began its consideration of research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

At 5:31 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 5:32 p.m., the committee resumed in public.

It was agreed:

That the following budget application (Research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
