The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 5:02 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Enverga, Maltais, Merchant, Mockler, Ogilvie, Oh, Robichaud, P.C., Tardif and Tkachuk (11).

In attendance: Aïcha Coulibaly and Jed Chong, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 23, 2014, the committee continued its study on international market access priorities for the Canadian agricultural and agri-food sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 18.)

Canada Pork International:

Jacques Pomerleau, President.

Canadian Meat Council:

James Laws, Executive Director.

Canadian Pork Council:

Bill Wymenga, Vice-Chair.

National Cattle Feeders' Association:

Bryan Walton, General Manager;

John Weekes, Trade Advisor.

Canadian Cattlemen's Association:

John Masswohl, Director of Government & International Relations.

Canadian Angus Association:

Rob Smith, Chief Executive Officer.

Canadian Beef Breeds Council:

Michael Latimer, Executive Director.

Mr. Laws, Mr. Wymenga and Mr. Pomerleau each made statements and, together, answered questions.

At 6:07 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:12 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Walton, Mr. Masswohl, Mr. Smith and Mr. Latimer made statements and, together with Mr. Weekes, answered questions.

At 7:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
