The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Irving Gerstein, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Campbell, Gerstein, Greene, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Maltais, Massicotte, Nancy Ruth, Ngo, Ringuette, Rivard and Tkachuk (12).
In attendance: Adriane Yong and Brett Stuckey, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Mona Ishack, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate of the Senate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee began its examination of the present state of the domestic and international financial system.

Stephen S. Poloz, Governor;
Tiff Macklem, Senior Deputy Governor.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Poloz made a statement and, together with Mr. Macklem, answered questions.
At 5:53 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
