The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 5:30 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Richard Neufeld, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boisvenu, Black, MacDonald, Massicotte, Mitchell, Neufeld, Patterson, Seidman, Sibbeston and Wallace (10).

In attendance: Sam Banks and Marc LeBlanc, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday November 25, 2014, the committee began its study on emerging issues related to its mandate.

WITNESSES:

Office of the Auditor General of Canada:

Julie Gelfand, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development;

James McKenzie, Principal;

Kimberly Leach, Principal;

Bruce Sloan, Principal.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Gelfand made a statement and, together with Mr. Sloan and Ms. Leach, answered questions.

At 6:33 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
