The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 2:19 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler and Smith (Saurel) (9).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Eaton (1).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of Bill C-4, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

At 3:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 3:18 p.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Poschmann and Mr. Mintz each made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:08 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
