The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler, Seth and Smith (Saurel) (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014.

WITNESSES:

Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions:

Philipe A. Sarrazin, Managing Director, Legislation and Policy Initiatives;

Marie-France Caron, Acting Chief Financial Officer, Managing Director of Finance, Finance and Corporate Planning.

Mr. Sarrazin made a statement and, together with Ms. Caron, answered questions.

At 8:05 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
