The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler, Seth and Smith (Saurel) (11).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 4.)

WITNESSES:

Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner:

Mary Dawson, Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner;

Lyne Robinson-Dalpé, Assistant Commissioner, Advisory and Compliance;

Denise Benoit, Director, Corporate Management.

Canada Border Services Agency:

Claude Rochette, Vice President, Comptrollership Branch;

Caroline Xavier, Associate Vice President, Operations Branch.

Ms. Dawson made a statement and, together with Ms. Robinson-Dalpé and Ms. Benoit, answered questions.

At 10:32 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Rochette made a statement and, together with Ms. Xavier, answered questions.

At 11:33 a.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
