The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Seth and Smith (Saurel) (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, the committee began its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015.

WITNESSES:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Bill Matthews, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Marcia Santiago, Executive Director, Expenditure Management Sector;

Darryl Sprecher, Director, Expenditure Management Portfolio.

Mr. Matthews made a statement and, together with Ms. Santiago and Mr. Sprecher, answered questions.

At 8:35 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
