The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day, at 6:46 p.m., in room 705, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Buth, Callbeck, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Merchant, Mockler, Seth and Smith (Saurel) (11).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Eggleton, P.C. (1).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 6, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the Bill C-462, An Act restricting the fees charged by promoters of the disability tax credit and making consequential amendments to the Tax Court of Canada Act.

WITNESSES:

Canada Revenue Agency:

Brian McCauley, Assistant Commissioner, Legislative Policy and Regulatory Affairs Branch;

Nathalie Dumais, Director General, Benefit Programs Directorate.

Mr. McCauley made a statement and, together with Ms. Dumais, answered questions.

At 8:12 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
