The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met in camera this day at 2:05 p.m., in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Callbeck, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler, Rivard and Smith (Saurel) (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Mark Palmer, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 10.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.

It was agreed that the draft interim report on the subject-matter of Bill C-31 be adopted, as amended, and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to make minor editorial revisions.

It was agreed that the interim report be tabled in the Chamber at the earliest opportunity.

At 2:51 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the chair.
