The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:34 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Eaton, Gerstein, Hervieux- Payette, P.C., Mockler, Smith (Saurel), Verner, P.C., Wells (10).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, the committee continued its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)

WITNESSES:

Canadian Institutes of Health Research:

Thérèse Roy, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Resource Planning and Management Portfolio;

Kelly VanKoughnet, Associate Vice President, Research and Knowledge Translation.

Patented Medicine Prices Review Board:

Douglas Clark, Executive Director;

Pauline Lahey, Chief, Corporate Planning and Reporting.

Ms. Roy made a statement and, together with Ms. VanKoughnet, answered questions.

At 10:43 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:45 a.m., the committee resumed.

Mr. Clark made a statement and, together with Ms. Lahey, answered questions.

At 11:26 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
