The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Chaput, Day, Gerstein, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Mockler, Rivard, Smith (Saurel) and Wells (9).

In attendance: Sylvain Fleury and Raphaëlle Deraspe, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 26, 2015, the committee began its examination of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

WITNESSES:

Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat:

Brian Pagan, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;

Marcia Santiago, Executive Director, Expenditure Management Sector.

Mr. Pagan made a statement and, together with Ms. Santiago, answered questions.

At 11:19 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:20 a.m., the committee, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda.

It was agreed that the senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.

At 11:22 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
