The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages has the honour to table its
FIRST REPORT
Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such matters as were referred to it, tables, pursuant to rule 12-26(2), the following report on expenses incurred for that purpose during the First Session of the Forty-first Parliament:
1. With respect to its special study on the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, June 26, 2011:

2. With respect to its special study on the use of the Internet, new media and social media and the respect for Canadians' language rights authorized by the Senate on Wednesday, October 5, 2011:

3. With respect to its special study on CBC/Radio-Canada's obligations under the Official Languages Act and some aspects of the Broadcasting Act authorized by the Senate on Thursday, November 17, 2011:

4. With respect to its special study on the government response to the report of the committee entitled: The Vitality of Quebec's English-speaking Communities: From Myth to Reality (October 2011) authorized by the Senate on Tuesday, March 27, 2012:

5. With respect to its special study on best practices for language policies and second-language learning in a context of linguistic duality or plurality authorized by the Senate on Monday, March 25, 2013:

6. With respect to its special study on the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities authorized by the Senate on Monday, March 25, 2013:

In addition to the expenses for its studies as set out above, your committee also incurred general postal charges of $ 105.
During the session, your committee held 51 meetings (82.4 hours), heard 212 witnesses and submitted 6 reports in relation to its work. Your committee examined 1 bill (C-419) and received a total of 10 orders of reference.
