The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 12:03 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Andrée Champagne, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Champagne, P.C., Chaput, Charette-Poulin, Fortin-Duplessis, McIntyre and Poirier (7).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Brigitte Lemay, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee began its study on the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities.
WITNESSES:

Sylvia Martin-Laforge, Director General;
Stephen D. Thompson, Director of Policy, Research and Public Affairs.
Voice of English-speaking Québec:
Jean-Sébastien Gignac, Executive Director.
Ms. Martin-Laforge and Mr. Gignac made a presentation and, along with Mr. Thompson, answered questions.
At 1:03 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
