The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:36 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Baker, P.C., Enverga, Hubley, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine, Robichaud, P.C., Seth, Stewart Olsen and Wells (11).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Watt (1).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Brigitte Lemay, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate of the Senate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Coastal Fisheries Protection Act.
WITNESSES:
Fisheries and Oceans Canada:
David Bevan, Associate Deputy Minister;
Nadia Bouffard, Acting Senior Assistant Deputy Minister;
Sylvie Lapointe, Director, Fisheries Management Plans.
Mr. Bevan made a statement and, together with Ms. Bouffard and Ms. Lapointe, answered questions.
At 6:37 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:40 p.m., the committee resumed.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Coastal Fisheries Protection Act.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
