The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 5:08 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Enverga, Hubley, Manning, Poirier, Raine, Stewart Olsen and Wells (8).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee began its study on the regulation of aquaculture, current challenges and future prospects for the industry in Canada.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
At 5:46 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee resumed in public to consider a draft budget.
The Honourable Senator Wells moved:
That the following special study budget application on aquaculture for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, with adjustments resulting from this meeting and following a final review by the Senate administration to be overseen by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration:
