The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 8:30 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Enverga, Hubley, Lovelace Nicholas, Manning, McInnis, Poirier, Raine, Stewart Olsen and Wells (10).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the regulation of aquaculture, current challenges and future prospects for the industry in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)
WITNESSES:
Marine Scotland:
Willie Cowan, Head of Performance and Aquaculture (by video conference);
Paul Haddon, Aquaculture Policy Manager (by video conference).
Mr. Cowan made a statement and answered questions.
At 9:46 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 9:48 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 10:01 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
