The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 5:09 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Hubley, Manning, McInnis, Meredith, Poirier, Raine, Stewart Olsen and Wells (8).
In attendance: Odette Madore, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the regulation of aquaculture, current challenges and future prospects for the industry in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

Terry Ennis, President, Board of Directors Executive;
Pamela Parker, Member, Board of Directors Executive and Government Relations Committee;
Ruth Salmon, Executive Director.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada:
Kevin Stringer, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management;
Eric Gilbert, Director General, Aquaculture Management, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management;
Jay Parsons, Director, Aquaculture Science, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management.
Mr. Ennis, Ms. Parker, Ms. Salmon and Mr. Stringer made statements and, together with Messrs. Gilbert and Parsons, answered questions.
At 6:48 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:53 p.m., the committee resumed.
The Honourable Senator Stewart Olsen moved:
That the committee proceed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), for the consideration of a draft agenda.
After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 6:54 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:55 p.m., the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).
At 7:18 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
