Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Fortin-Duplessis, seconded by the Honourable Senator Poirier, for the second reading of Bill C-266, An Act to establish Pope John Paul II Day.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted on the following vote:

YEAS — 47

NAYS — 22

ABSTENTIONS — 9

Accordingly, Bill C-266 was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Fortin-Duplessis moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Housakos, that the bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights.
