The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 2 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Day, Kenny, Lang, Mitchell, Ngo, Stewart Olsen and White (9).
In attendance: Holly Porteous, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 19, 2014, the committee began its study and report on security threats facing Canada.
WITNESSES:
Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada:
Gérald Cossette, Director;
Luc Beaudry, Manager, Terrorist Financing Intelligence Group.
Canadian Security Intelligence Service:
Jeff Yaworski, Deputy Director of Operations.
The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Cossette made a statement and, together with Mr. Beaudry, answered questions.
At 3:04 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 3:26 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Yaworski made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:27 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 4:31 p.m., the committee resumed, and pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 19, 2014, the committee began its study on national security and defence issues in Indo-Asia Pacific Relations and their implications for Canada's national security and defence policies, practices, circumstances and capabilities.

The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Boutilier made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
