The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 1:02 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Day, Kenny, Lang, Mitchell, Ngo, Stewart Olsen and White (9).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Baker, P.C. (1).
In attendance: Holly Porteous, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 19, 2014, the committee continued its study and report on security threats facing Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 9.)

The Honourable Senator Serge Joyal, P.C., Former Deputy Chair of the Senate Special Committee on Anti- terrorism.
Public Prosecution Service of Canada:
Brian Saunders, Director of Public Prosecutions;
George Dolhai, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions;
Ursula Hendel, Senior Counsel, Drug, National Security and Northern Prosecutions Branch.
The Honourable Senator Joyal, P.C., made a statement and answered questions.
At 2:06 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:10 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. Saunders made a statement and, together with Mr. Dolhai and Ms. Hendel, answered questions.
At 3:48 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 3:53 p.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), for the consideration of a draft agenda.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to stay in the room.
At 4:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
