The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 1:01 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Dagenais, Day, Lang, Mitchell, Ngo, Stewart Olsen and White (8).
In attendance: Holly Porteous, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 19, 2014, the committee continued its study on security threats facing Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 9.)

At 2:10 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 2:19 p.m., the committee resumed.
Ms. Hawara made a statement and, together with Mr. Bland, answered questions.
At 3:25 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 3:37 p.m., the committee resumed in camera and, pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on May 14, 2015, the committee continued its examination of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 2 of Part 3 of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 18.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report on the subject matter of those elements contained in Division 2 of Part 3 of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to stay in the room.
Senator Day tabled a report from the Veterans Subcommittee in relation to Division 17 of Part 3 of Bill C-59.
It was agreed that the two draft reports be adopted, that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to integrate them into a single report, and approve the final text.
At 3:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
