The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met in camera this day at 5:27 p.m., in room 256-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Day, Lang, Mitchell, Oh, Stewart Olsen and White (7).

In attendance: Holly Porteous, Julie Béchard, Martin Auger and Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Alida Rubwindi, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its study on the medical, social, and operational impacts of mental health issues affecting serving and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces, including operational stress injuries (OSIs) such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 7.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to stay in the room.

It was agreed that the draft report be adopted, and that it be tabled at the earliest opportunity.

At 5:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
