The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:29 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Cordy, Doyle, Dyck, Eggleton, P.C., Maltais, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Rivard, Seidman and Stewart Olsen (11).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the committee continued its study on prescription pharmaceuticals in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3).

Karen Dodds, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Technology Branch;

Joanne Parrot, Chief, Bioassays and Toxicity Assessments;

Nicole Davidson, Director, Emerging Priorities Division.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Dodds made a statement and, together with Ms. Parrot and Ms. Davidson, answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
