The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:30 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Stewart Olsen (9).

In attendance: Sonya Norris, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the committee continued its study on prescription pharmaceuticals in Canada. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.)

WITNESSES:

Wendy Krkosek, Research Engineer, Centre for Water Resources Studies, Dalhousie University;

Rebecca Klaper, Associate Professor, School of Freshwater Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The chair made a statement.

Ms. Krkosek and Ms. Klaper each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
