The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 10:28 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Cordy, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Nancy Ruth, Ogilvie, Seidman, Seth and Stewart Olsen (10).
In attendance: Sonya Norris and Sandra Elgersma, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the committee continued its study of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 11, 17, 20, 27 and 30 of Part 6 of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 11, 2014 and other measures.

Corinne Pohlmann, Senior Vice President, National Affairs.
The chair made a statement.
Mr. Sweetman and Ms Pohlmann each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
